Desmar Whitfield

Name: Desmar Whitfield

Nationality: St Lucian

Ancestral Traits/Ethnicity: European/Indian/St Lucian

What do you like most about your culture/ethnicity:
the cuisine and the warmth of our people – our rich agriculture compliments the vast variety of fruits we cultivate on the Island and adds in abundance to our food when mixed to provide a wide variety of meals that you can seldom find anywhere else on the globe.  Our people are warm and hospitable primarily because of the lasting influence that remained from our inhabitants who were Europeans, French and East Indians.

What do you find challenging about your culture/ethnicity:  As part of the Caribbean, we pride ourselves in knowing we live in a paradise – globally renowned as being a primary vacation spot.  Although culturally rich, the laid back and laissez-faire attitude is not demonstrative of an Island that is rich in talent and has so much to offer.
